Renewed Hope, Reduced Waste, Recycled Rides

We turn donated vehicles into reliable transportation for low-income working families.

The Giving Garage is a Washington nonprofit that repurposes donated vehicles to provide free and affordable transportation to low-income working families — while keeping cars out of landfills.

How It Works

1. You donate your vehicle — free pickup, and we handle all the paperwork.

2. Our mechanics and volunteers refurbish it to make it safe and reliable.

3. A working family gets peace of mind knowing their commute is no longer a worry.

Every family goes through a simple vetting process to make sure each vehicle goes to a home that will use it for good. Using a program vehicle in a crime — including a DUI — can disqualify a family from future assistance. (Vehicles already placed are not taken back.)

Our Impact Goals

Year 1: Help 500 families get reliable transportation.

Year 1: Service 3,000 vehicles.

5-year goal: Divert 10,000 vehicles from landfills.

Help Based on Need

The lowest-income working families pay nothing — free car, free maintenance, free repairs. Families who are struggling but earning more qualify for income-based discounts up to 50% off, and even small discounts from 5% off repairs. Everyone who works hard deserves reliable transportation.

Not every donated vehicle is the right fit for a family. Vehicles we can't place go to auction, and every dollar raised goes straight back into our mission — so your donation always makes a difference.
